Fake News Generational Damage — Armageddon

Figuring out what is Fake and what is Real News these days is a challenge — even with legitimate news outlets because they periodically apologize for and retract a wrong report — Fake News.

Today’s millennials, the majority of us, were weaned on mobile devices and computers watching Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show, and its many spinoffs and imitators — in the shadow of their parents reading, listening and watching false and defamatory political campaign materials disseminated by career politicians seeking re-election — and their challengers.

Going back the last 40 plus years, many registered voters, their children and grandchildren, read defamatory false political campaign flyers, listened to untrue political commercials on the radio, and saw the messages re-enforced on TV — Fake News — about a political opponent or state of domestic or international affairs.

Political disinformation and political spins of “alternative facts” is nothing new. It has been going on for centuries.

Having personally been actively involved in many U.S. political campaigns at city, county, state and national levels in the 70s through 80s, and still stay in touch with many of my fellow activists of the day who are still in the political trenches, I know first-hand how Fake News was fabricated and planted in the unsuspecting public arena and minds. Not much has changed for the better since. In fact it has gotten much worse — more Fake News than ever!

The end result of these dirty political campaign strategies and disinformation campaigns, has morphed into a race to the bottom to scoop or break a news story, which unfortunately today is often Fake, but travels faster than the speed of sound on social media.

Fake News that is damaging to our personal intellectual, political, religious, economic and military state of affairs. The very essence of who we are, what we believe and how we behave is being shaped by Fake News.

The multi-generational damage done to our human belief systems and resulting violent behavior in order to keep and re-enforce Fake Beliefs must be slowed down and stopped!

I am a strong believer and supporter of American’s Constitutional Right of Free Speech — all People’s Right of Free Speech under the Human Rights Charter and Convention. However, I also believe that if we are to survive as a people, there should be limits on Fake Speech, online and offline, with severe penalties and punishment for the perpetrators of Fake News.

We the Maids, the People, have to sweep back into the main square of public dialogue, political debates and arenas FACTS! Fact based news. Easy to do today with the different fact check tools available to everyone. It is critical We do so if we are to survive and live a Fact based life in a healthy environment on a sustainable planet.

Fake News is killing our future and future generations by misleading them to believe the worst in each other — the surest road to Armageddon.
