Trump is the bridge to the New World Order — a bipolar order!
He is also the chaotic Destructor In Chief of the Old World Order.
His disruptive behavior, starting with the Republican presidential primary for the party’s presidential nomination, continuing and expanding in his campaign against Clinton, the Democratic nominee, that magnified itself with his racist, anti-immigration-climate change remarks and policies, is just the beginning of the “Trump Effect” on American politics and elections.
The Imperial Presidency Trump inherited from several successive presidents before him, has resulted in Executive Orders driving American domestic and foreign policies, instead of Congress. The Congressional checks are not balancing the Executive Orders. Congress is gridlocked and the Supreme Court has become a partisan tool. Trump is only doing more of the same, just more aggressively, chaotically and destructively.
America’s Founding Fathers must be turning in their graves, screaming for a Constitutional Convention, the way they did the first time around — echoing many Americans.
On the foreign policy front, Trump’s disruptive behavior has got North Korea to talk denuclearization, moved the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, exited the Trans Pacific Partnership and Paris Climate Change Accord, exited the Iran Nuclear Treaty, re-imposed sanctions on Iran and created economic and political chaos for the mullahs, imposed sanctions on Russia, tariffs on Chinese goods and foreign steel, aluminum and cars. And all affected countries, most notably China, Iran, Russia and Turkey, are threatening or imposing counter-measures in response.
As if that isn’t enough, he has China, Russia, Turkey, Iran, North Korea, Pakistan and most of Europe on the backs of their heels, not knowing which direction his next tweet, sanctions or tariffs will fly. In the meantime, NATO allies have agreed to increase their defense budgets and the EU has signed a trade deal with the U.S.
China has good reason to fret on how Xi Jinping should deal with his new American friend in the White House, while trying to shed China’s one-dimensional image of just being an economic power.
America’s military might is unrivaled, even in the Asia/Indian Pacific. So is its economic might. U.S. trade in goods with the member states of ASEAN reached US$273 billion in 2015, and the U.S. cumulative direct investments is $226 billion (more than China, Japan and South Korea combined). Most Southeast Asian governments are reluctant to recognize or publicize the America presence. They welcome Chinese money but don’t welcome or trust China.
The Trump cards are on the table. The establishment just doesn’t know how to deal them because career politicians and political pundits the world over have been playing the Old World Order political card game, while dancing to the Old World Order political dance tunes.
Trump’s political tweet-tone is a tune the Old World Order doesn’t know how to dance to, and is having a hard time learning how (it’s not the Saudi Stomp). It is a tune they never heard and dance moves for the New World Order they don’t know. Granted, it is very disruptive for our current New World Disorder. Real change always is. Chaotic!
