America: “We Have a Problem!”

Washington D.C., America’s Capitol, attacked while the Vice President is overseeing the certification of Electoral College votes on January 6; FBI warned of violence; Capitol police enabling insurrection; trained and armed veterans, elected and law enforcement officials on the front lines of the Capitol invaders; manhunts for Capitol invaders and Biden supporters; Trump facing a second impeachment; Trumpists preparing to attack all 50 State Capitols – and D.C. again – on January 20, Inauguration Day; Trump refusing to attend the Biden swearing in; Acting Homeland Security Chief resigns; a security fence has been built around the entire grounds of the Capital where Biden will take his oath of office; Trump has approved the District of Columbia’s emergency declaration from January 11-24; Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser urging Americans not to travel to D.C. for the inauguration and instead watch it virtually, is totally mind-boggling to anyone like me, who has attended inaugurations and been thrilled by the peaceful handover of the White House; in the words of Congresswoman and former CIA analyst Elissa Slotkin:  “The post-9/11 era is over…. The single greatest national security threat right now is our internal division.”
