Jobs by the thousands if not millions will be created if America starts upgrading its 20th-century infrastructure to meet the demands of the 21st-century. America was the first country to build highways, freeways and state of the art bridges, airports, dams, harbors, railways and telecommunications. Today its state of the art infrastructure is dated, dilapidated and dysfunctional and in desperate need of refurbishment. It is time Congress focus on making America’s infrastructure great again, instead of digging deeper into the political fratricidal mess Congress has gotten itself and America into.
China has not only build state of the art infrastructure at home, but is now building a global infrastructure with its Belt and Road Initiative that links the world to China. A 21st-century Silk Road as it leaves America in the dust on America’s rickety infrastructure – at home and abroad.
If America can get its bipartisan political act together and focus on building its human capital and infrastructure, while China is confronted with a slowing, aging, corrupt and bureaucratic sputtering economy, that will allow a reinvigorated smart and modern America to again take over China — and its global infrastructure. After all, isn’t that what America did to Japan when it got too cocky?
President Trump’s $1 Trillion Initiative to Fix America’s Infrastructure sure is a better plan than spending that same amount of money on stupid wars in places America has no business having boots on the ground. Having a smart cyber infrastructure makes a lot more sense, especially if it is manned by smart American human capital – a subject I address at length in my book Feasting Dragon, Starving Eagle and Custom Maid War for New World Disorder.
The infrastructure initiative is not getting the traction it deserves in Congress because of the ongoing bitter suicidal partisan battles on everything from health care, taxes, education…. because of the Russia collusion and obstruction of justice charges, counter-charges and investigations. Why can’t what is best for America in terms of jobs, health, education and the necessary infrastructure needed to make it all happen proceed at the same speed as the political investigations? They are not mutually exclusive.
The current financial sector clean-up in China is untangling the multi-trillion yuan business empires and financial institutions backing domestic infrastructure plans and the Belt and Road initiative, especially with the road block America has thrown up with its allies in the Middle East, that have check-mated the Silk Road’s path through Qatar.
America can only get back to being first — with a world-class state-of-the-art infrastructure — if it gets back to its bipartisan political work ethic, low-cost bonds, a long overdue gas tax increase and active private sector participation. Basically, all the ingredients that made America and its infrastructure great in the first place!
