Neither the Democratic nor Republican parties were happy with the election of the Twitter Twit — President Donald Trump. The only people who were happy were America’s populist citizens.
America’s Founding Fathers were concerned about populist politics and put the Electoral College in place to protect the Republic from populism. The Electoral College put President Trump in the White House even though the majority of Americans voted for Clinton.
The Founding Fathers were also concerned that if the federal government became dysfunctional 34 states could vote for a convention to address the problems.
The American political system is broken and dysfunctional and desperately needs to be fixed – starting with the abolition of the Electoral College and convening a convention to address Washington’s dysfunctionality – topics I address at length in Custom Maid Revolution.
In the meantime, we do have to look closer at the political smoke coming out of Washington. The White House and Congress are aflame. The political outlaw Twitter Twit is stoking the flames with his tweets and may self-immolate in the process.
The political fires being stoked daily by partisan flamethrowers in D.C. are burning America. The world is watching in amazement and disbelief at the fires that are not only scorching America’s political landscape, but polluting the world – politically and economically.
The American political establishment elite are determined to get rid of the populist president who insulted their candidates, political parties, media organizations and supporters.
It should therefore be no surprise that the “I” word is now no longer just whispered by the legal pundits and Washington establishment.
The Twitter Twit’s flood of angry tweets have set-off the legal firestorm. As a lawyer and father of a former U.S. forest fire fighter, I know first-hand the horror of out-of-control forest fires and hope the scorched earth politics of the Washington Beltway are extinguished constructively and expeditiously in the interest of all Americans, Republic and the country is put above partisan politics.
Trump tweeted that it is all politics: “Again, the story that there was collusion between the Russians & Trump campaign was fabricated by Dems as an excuse for losing the election.”
In yet another tweet, Trump called the investigation into his campaign associates ties to Russia a “witch hunt,” insisting that former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said there was no collusion.
Clapper has said the intelligence community’s report on Russian hacking, which he oversaw, did not include any evidence of hacking. Clapper also said he was unaware of the ongoing FBI investigation itself until Comey disclosed it publicly in March. But that’s not the same thing as saying, definitely, that no collusion took place.
Trump also took to Twitter to threaten Comey not to leak to the press: “James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!”
In a letter to the White House, House Democratic leaders called for the release of any tapes and recorded communications between Trump and Comey. Trump’s early Friday warning even of the prospect of “tapes,” they said, “raised the specter of possible intimidation and obstruction of justice.”
Wikileaks offered $100,000 to anyone who would leak Trump-Comey communications.
Matthew Miller, a spokesman for Justice during the Obama administration, tweeted: “One thing I learned at DOJ about Comey: he leaves a protective paper trail whenever he deems something inappropriate happening. Stay tuned.”
Man was he right! A burning legal paper trail.
The Twitter Twit has created his own legal twix!
